Black Scottish Fold for Sale – The Story of Bruce

Bruce was the last of his litter to fold. At three weeks his brothers’ ears had already tipped forward while his stayed stubbornly upright, and we had written him down as a Straight. Then, over about four days in his fourth week, they came down.

The Coat Took Even Longer

Newborn golden chinchilla kittens look almost nothing like the adults they become. Bruce arrived sooty and indistinct. As the weeks passed, however, the black tipping settled into place over a warm golden undercoat, and the marble swirls along his sides began to separate out.

He is not a solid black cat, and we would rather say so plainly. The black sits only on the tips of his hairs, so what you see is a dark marbled pattern lit from underneath by gold. In low light he reads as black. In sunlight he reads as bronze.

What He Turned Into

Quiet, mostly. While his littermates worked out how to open the laundry cupboard, Bruce watched from the doorway and then investigated on his own once the noise died down. He still does this. He follows people between rooms, settles near whatever they are doing, and asks for attention with a look rather than a paw.

Because he grew up in our living room, ordinary household noise does not concern him. He is comfortable with children and with our other cats.
