What Chocolate Point Means

Point colouring comes from a temperature-sensitive gene. Because the cooler parts of the body develop more pigment, the colour concentrates on the ears, face, paws and tail, while the warmer body stays pale cream.

Kittens are born almost white, and the points darken over the first weeks and months. Chocolate is the warmest and lightest of the classic point colours, which is why Magi’s markings read as milk chocolate rather than the near-black of a seal point. Her blue eyes come with the pattern.
