Cinnamon point is one of the least common combinations in the breed, so if you are looking at a British Shorthair cat for sale, two things are worth understanding first: why the colour is so rare, and what British temperament actually feels like day to day.

Why Cinnamon Point Is Rare

Cinnamon point is rare because two separate recessives have to line up. Cinnamon itself needs two copies of the gene, so both parents must carry it, and most British lines simply do not. The point pattern needs two copies of its own gene on top of that.

Cinnamon is a warm reddish-brown rather than the chocolate it is often mistaken for, and it looks noticeably lighter in sunlight. The blue eyes come with the point pattern, not the colour. Because points develop with temperature, his face, ears, paws and tail carry more pigment than his body, and they will deepen slowly as he matures.

What British Temperament Really Means

Buyers sometimes expect a lap cat, and that is not quite what this breed is. Chester will follow you into a room, pick a spot near your chair, and stay for the evening. However, like most Britishes, he would rather sit beside you than on you, and he dislikes being carried.

For many owners that is exactly the appeal. He is affectionate without being needy, quiet, and unbothered by being left alone during a working day.

His Daily Rhythm

He plays in moderate sessions with interactive toys, then settles nearby to rest. He explores confidently and watches people with obvious interest. Because he grew up in a home environment rather than a cattery room, unfamiliar surroundings do not unsettle him.

He uses his litter box and scratching post consistently, so nothing needs correcting when he arrives.

One Thing to Plan For

British Shorthairs mature slowly, over three to four years. Chester will keep filling out long after he stops looking like a kitten. They also enjoy their food and prefer lounging to sprinting, so watch portions and keep a wand toy in the evening routine.
