A Munchkin Kitten Who Takes Her Time – Meet Fairy

Fairy is a black silver chinchilla Munchkin Fold female. First, people notice the combination: folded ears, very short legs, and a pale silver coat with dark tipping that catches the light. Then they notice that she is in no hurry about anything.

She Walks Where Others Run

Most kittens burst into a new room. Fairy, on the other hand, steps in, stops, and looks around before committing. Because her legs are short, she has a careful, deliberate walk, and she uses it to inspect furniture legs while her littermates are already three rooms ahead.

However, this is not timidity. Once she has decided a space is fine, she plays as readily as any of them. She simply gathers information first.

What Surprises Visitors

Three things, usually. To begin with, her coat looks white in daylight and grey indoors, because chinchilla tipping only colours the very tip of each hair. In addition, her folded ears sit tighter than photographs suggest. Finally, she is heavier than she looks, since a Munchkin body is normal-sized on shortened legs.

Living With Her

Fairy purrs on approach and settles into blankets and laps without being invited. Because she grew up in our home with daily handling, she trusts people quickly. As a result, she is gentle enough for households with children.

Her practical needs are ordinary, apart from one adjustment. Keep bowls, beds and the litter tray at floor level, and then give her a step up to anywhere high she should reach.
